Burnout isn’t just feeling tired after a long day. It’s a deeper exhaustion, physical and mental collapse caused by prolonged stress and overwork. Your mind, body and heart are saying ‘I need a break’.
It’s something many of us experience, often without realising it’s happening. Yet we keep pushing through, telling ourselves we are fine, until we are not !
You see, stress doesn’t just affect how we feel, it affects our health in so many ways. Research shows that a huge amount of illness is linked to stress. That’s why it’s important to ask yourself:
“If I don’t take care of myself, what happens to my world?”
When you take care of yourself, everything else you care about benefits too; everything and everyone that depends on you.

Recognising the Signs
Burnout doesn’t appear overnight. It creeps up slowly. It starts as tiredness, then little by little, it builds until you’re running on empty.
You might notice;
Physical exhaustion: Feeling tired even after sleep, achy, rundown or frequent headaches.
Mental fatigue: struggling to focus or remember things and feeling overwhelmed.
Emotional detachment: Losing interest in work or feeling numb/distant with loved ones.
Increased irritability: Becoming easily frustrated, snappy &/or impatient.
Reduced performance: Struggling to complete things and just not having that sparkle you usually do.
When you start to spot these signs, that’s your body whispering ‘I need help’.
Recognising these signs early, allows you to take action before the burnout worsens.
Taking care of yourself
When you nurture yourself, everything flows more easily. You think more clearly, you connect better with others, and you feel more like you. Self care helps you:
Regain focus, calm and productivity.
Stay connected, and compassionate.
Protect your health.
Feel more motivated and balanced.
It’s about filling your cup so you can keep doing what you love, without running yourself dry.
Self Care Ideas
Here are a few simple ways to support yourself, especially when life gets busy:
Take regular breaks; step away, stretch & take a few deep breaths. (Even a few moments can make a difference).
Set boundaries; allow yourself proper rest time. Your down time needs to be sacred.
Stay connected; talk to people you trust about how you are feeling. If you work alone, find a group or network that feels supportive.
Book a treatment; give your body a chance to reset. Whether it’s a massage or another therapy, it can work wonders. You can always book in with me - I’d love to help you recharge.
Practice mindfulness; even just a few calm minutes each day can help quiet the mind. I personally love using the Calm app, there are some beautiful guided sessions on there, even sleep stories.
Sleep and nourish yourself; rest well, eat well and be gentle with yourself.
When Life Gets Busy
It’s funny isn’t it !? The busier we get, the more we drop the things that help us cope. But the reality is, that’s when we need self care the most.
Plan; pop it in your diary, treat it like any other important appointment.
Keep it simple; it doesn’t have to be big or time consuming. A short walk, a few moments of stillness, or a daydream with a cuppa.
Use gentle reminders; a note on your fridge or a little phone alarm saying ‘pause, breathe’, remember to drink water.
Ask for help; you don’t have to do everything alone.
Please remember, taking this time isn’t selfish, it’s essential. It’s how you keep your light glowing, for you and everyone around you.
So if you’re needing a bit of time out, some relaxation or just an energy boost, you know where I am, I’d love to see what I can do to help you feel like yourself again.
If you don’t have time to come over, we can have a FaceTime/Zoom consultation where I can create some bespoke oils just for you - something soothing to pop in your bath/on your pillow for a gentle pick-me-up or a moment of calm escape.
