It's so easy isn't it - to simply hit that snooze button and snatch 9 more minutes sleep, but what happens to our body when we do that - do we actually benefit from extending our nap !?

Our cortisol spikes when we wake up, cortisol is the 'stress hormone' and it helps you be alert, increase heart rate, regulate blood pressure, control your mood, motivation & fear along with many other things. So in the morning, it will help you get up and on with your day... if however, you wake up and go back to sleep, that cortisol remains unused which causes wild vivid dreams during that snooze period.
Studies show that hitting the snooze button can start you off in a stressed state, affecting your mood, heart rate, quality of sleep and affect your sleep/wake cycle.
Not only that, but you also eventually train your body to sleep through alarms rendering them useless !
The best way to go about your morning, is to set one alarm and just get out of bed, even if you have to crawl out, you'll feel much better, be more motivated and after 30 minutes of waking that cortisol will be ready to carry you through the day just the way nature intended !
Wishing you a peaceful nights' sleep and a calm start to the day.
